Pacific Voices, Pacific Priorities: Investing in a Renewable Energy Future
Government of Australia
A high-level event bringing together governments, development partners, multilateral development banks and investors to advance the Pacific's renewable energy transition and support the vision of a 100 per cent renewable Pacific. Pacific island countries are demonstrating global leadership in the transition to renewable energy. Many have set ambitious targets to generate up to 100 per cent of their electricity from renewable sources as a means of strengthening energy security, reducing reliance on imported fuels, increasing energy access and supporting sustainable development. The Pacific has significant renewable energy potential and access to technologies capable of supporting a transition to cleaner and more resilient energy systems. While investment requirements are substantial in the context of Pacific economies, they remain modest relative to global climate and energy financing flows. This session will place Pacific voices at the centre of the discussion. Senior Pacific leaders will share their vision for a renewable energy future, explain what energy security means for Pacific communities and identify the investments and partnerships needed to accelerate implementation. Participants will hear directly from Pacific countries on their priorities, experiences and plans for delivering renewable energy and electrification outcomes. The session will also explore how development partners and multilateral development banks can work more effectively with Pacific countries to support Pacific-led priorities. Participants will be invited to reflect on existing contributions, identify new opportunities for collaboration and consider ways to scale support for renewable energy deployment across the region.
