100% Renewable Blue Pacific: Pledges Open

Smart Energy Council, Pacific Community

Watch Live

This event will promote the Pacific Renewable Energy Investment Prospectus following the launches at the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Palau and the pre-COP in Fiji, and encourage pledges from donors, investors and philanthropists so the Pacific can show other regions that a transition from fossil fuels is doable. This event will promote the Pacific Renewable Energy Investment Prospectus and showcase it to a global audience. This follows the launches at the Pacific Islands Forum in Palau in September and the pre-COP in Fiji in October, which Pacific Regional Energy Ministers called for at their meeting in Port Moresby in May. The event will focus on encouraging donors, investors and philanthropists to fund projects identified in the prospectus to transition the region to 100% renewable energy. The transition is important for the people of the Pacific given high energy prices from expensive imported fossil fuels. New clean energy systems can be built to improve climate resilience in the region, strengthen communities and provide economic empowerment to encourage young people to remain. The region's energy transition is also important as a beacon to the rest of the globe. If the Pacific can achieve the energy transition, then the rest of the world can too. This event will support the Pacific's climate ambition of achieving the 1.5 temperature goal including the Belem Mission to 1.5 and boosting the energy transition. It will ensure Pacific voices are central to the COP31 electrification goal through the region's transition to battery electric mobility.
