Drawing on the ongoing work of GCF IEUs Third Performance Review of the Green Climate Fund (TPR), including its synthesis and foresight study, this session will examine the GCFs role in an evolving climate finance landscape and to what extent its own reforms and changes have translated into results that matter for vulnerable countries. The global climate finance landscape is evolving at a time of growing climate needs, constrained public resources and increasing pressure on international institutions to deliver finance effectively and at scale. For small island developing states, this raises an important question: where can the Green Climate Fund add the greatest value? Drawing on ongoing work under the Third Performance Review of the GCF, including its synthesis and foresight study, this session will examine the Funds role and comparative advantage within the wider climate finance architecture for the SIDS. The discussion will consider how the climate finance landscape is changing, what the GCFs experience to date tells us about access and delivery, and what these developments could mean for vulnerable countries. Bringing together independent evaluation and Pacific perspectives, the session will look ahead to how the GCF and the broader climate finance architecture can better respond to the needs and realities of SIDS.
