A Pacific-led discussion on connecting the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage, the Global Shield and regional mechanisms to deliver accessible, timely and country-driven finance. Pacific Island countries face escalating climate impacts while continuing to navigate a complex and fragmented financing landscape. This event will bring together a Pacific Island country representative, Pacific Resilience Facility, the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage, the Global Shield Secretariat and PCRIC to explore how global commitments can translate into practical financial protection for Pacific communities. The discussion will centre the experience and priorities of Pacific Island countries, including the need for finance that is accessible, predictable, timely and responsive to national circumstances. Panellists will consider how the emerging loss and damage financing architecture, country-led support through the Global Shield and established regional mechanisms such as PCRIC can complement one another. The session will identify opportunities to connect global finance, national systems and regional delivery, while avoiding duplication and strengthening countries' ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from climate-related disasters. It will highlight the Pacific as a source of practical solutions and regional innovation within the global climate finance architecture.
