Theme: Resilient Fisheries for Climate Resilient Large Ocean States. Pacific fisheries are a strategic regional asset, underpinning food security, public revenue, employment and the identity of our ocean communities. Climate change threatens these benefits, making sustained investment in fisheries management, surveillance and resilient value chains essential to the Pacific’s future. Fish & Sips 3.0 will bring Pacific leaders and fisheries experts together with climate finance institutions, development partners, industry and philanthropies to explore a shared question: How can investment in sustainably managed fisheries strengthen climate resilience and deliver greater benefits for Pacific peoples? Through brief opening contributions, a scene-setting video and facilitated conversations over tuna and kava, participants will explore three connected call to partners: Sustain: maintain a sustainable tuna fishery through strengthened fisheries management, science and national capacity in response to climate change impacts. Protect: strengthen monitoring, control and surveillance, including through the proposed new Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre (RFSC), to support coordinated responses to illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and climate-driven changes in fishing patterns. Grow: advance the East New Britain Initiative (ENBi) through investment in resilient infrastructure, regional processing and opportunities for Pacific businesses, workers and communities to strengthen climate resilience. Outcomes: The event aims to: Build recognition of fisheries as a climate resilience priority, connecting healthy tuna resources with food security, livelihoods and the public revenues that support national development and adaptation. Translate the Pacific’s fisheries management achievements into an investment proposition, demonstrating why sustainable resources must be matched by resilient infrastructure and greater economic and social benefits within the region. Mobilise champions for Member priorities, securing support for fisheries management, ENBI and the new RFSC across climate, development and ocean fora. Connect Pacific priorities with financing opportunities, identifying potential partners and appropriate pathways for public, private, climate and philanthropic support. Generate practical next steps, including targeted follow up meetings and opportunities for practical collaboration.
