The event will focus on learnings from the work of the AF in the Pacific and recent evaluation evidence and examine the role of direct access modalities, as well as the systemic barriers to climate finance access and effectiveness. Co-organised by the Adaptation Funds Technical Evaluation Reference Group and Board Secretariat, this event draws on recent independent evaluation findings and direct field observations from Pacific island contexts including Fiji and Solomon Islands to surface concrete lessons on how climate finance can better serve vulnerable communities and nations. Grounded in evaluative evidence, the discussion will examine the effectiveness of direct access modalities in small island settings, the role of National Implementing Entities in bridging finance and community needs, and the systemic barriers that continue to limit the Pacific's ability to access and deploy climate finance at the scale the region requires. Centering Pacific voices and lived experience, the event speaks directly to the pavilion's priorities on climate finance, adaptation, and capacity building. It recognises the special circumstances of Small Island Developing States, elevates regional leadership and innovation, and reflects on what the Pacific's distinct challenges and achievements demand of the broader global climate finance architecture at a pivotal moment for adaptation ambition worldwide.
