Funding the Last Mile: Pacific Resilience Facility in Action
Pacific Resilience Facility, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat
Turning climate finance into Pacific resilience - for communities at the last mile. This event will bring Pacific community resilience to life by showing how the Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) is designed to move climate finance from global pledges to practical outcomes for vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities at the last mile. For many Pacific communities, the distance between a pledge announced at a COP and a tap that runs clean water, or a seawall that holds, is still measured in years, not months. The PRF was built to close that gap providing a Pacific-owned, last-mile financing pathway that supports locally identified priorities and strengthens resilience where climate impacts are already being felt. Through a short video showcasing Pacific voices, and a panel discussion, the event will demonstrate how the Pacific's first owned and managed climate finance institution is overcoming barriers that have long limited community access to multilateral climate finance. It will build understanding and confidence among international CSOs, climate finance stakeholders and partners, and invite them to pledge, advocate for and champion last-mile climate finance that reaches Pacific communities.
