Regional Programmatic Approach for Climate Action (RPACA) in the Pacific
Government of Palau, Cook Islands Government
A high-level panel on the Regional Programmatic Approach for Climate Action (RPACA) in the Pacific. A discussion on Pacific leadership and innovation, to enable a dynamic, resilient and prosperous Blue Pacific. The RPACA is a regionally integrated, multi-sectoral climate adaptation programme aimed at safeguarding the lives, livelihoods, critical infrastructure, and ecosystems for 14 small island states. Aligned with Pacific led priorities, RPACA promotes inclusive, climate-resilient solutions across highly vulnerable island communities in the region. RPACA adopts a transformational bottom-up approach, involving 14 PSIDS and a partnership of Regional Direct Access Accredited Entities (AEs), representing a significant shift towards more collaborative and tailored climate finance solutions. It adopts a comprehensive programmatic approach, aiming to deliver large scale and locally led solutions, build capacities, and mobilise financing through national programming cycles, innovative financing modalities, and partnerships. This strategy addresses regional and national climate challenges, promotes sustainable development, and will catalyze impact beyond implementation period. The development process actively engages GCF National Designated Authorities led by Palau and the Cook Islands, ensuring strong country ownership.
