Scaling Pacific Resilience: Solomon Islands Adaptation in Action

Solomon Islands Government, SOLKAS Project Save the Children

Watch Live

Showcasing how Solomon Islands is building climate resilience from schools and communities to urban centres, and how locally led adaptation models can be scaled across the Pacific through stronger partnerships, finance, and knowledge exchange. The Pacific Partnership Policy Framework for COP31 emphasizes four pillars, including Enhancing Access to Climate Finance and Amplifying Pacific Leadership and Voices, while promoting practical adaptation outcomes, evidence-based solutions, and inclusive Indigenous leadership. Solomon Islands presents a compelling example of adaptation in action. Through the Solomon Islands Knowledge Action System (SOLKAS) and the Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement Project II (CAUSE II), communities are strengthening resilience at multiple levels. SOLKAS supports schools, youth, community leaders, and vulnerable rural communities through climate awareness, adaptation planning, knowledge sharing, and community-led resilience initiatives. CAUSE II is delivering climate-resilient urban infrastructure, drainage systems, coastal protection, community infrastructure, livelihood support, and inclusive resilience-building across rapidly growing urban centres. CAUSE II is expected to benefit urban residents through climate-smart investments and urban resilience measures. Together, these initiatives demonstrate that resilience is most effective when built across the entire adaptation pathway: from informed communities and empowered schools to resilient infrastructure and strengthened institutions. The side event will showcase Solomon Islands' adaptation journey while exploring opportunities to attract support, partnerships, and investment to scale successful models across the country and the wider Pacific.
