The Next Wave: A Conversation Between Young Leaders and Negotiators
Australia Pacific Youth Climate Dialogue, Supported by UNICEF
A dynamic conversation bringing together young climate leaders from the Pacific, Australia and key COP countries with negotiators and decision-makers to explore the priorities emerging from the Australia-Pacific Youth Climate Dialogue and the outcomes needed from COP31. Young climate leaders from the Pacific, Australia and key COP countries will come together with negotiators and delegation representatives for a candid conversation about what success at COP31 should look like and the outcomes needed to secure a safer, more sustainable future. Drawing on the priorities and recommendations developed through the Australia-Pacific Youth Climate Dialogue (APYCD), young leaders will share their vision for COP31 and the practical actions they want to see reflected in negotiations, commitments and final decisions. The session creates a rare opportunity for direct dialogue between young leaders and those shaping climate policy. Through a facilitated discussion, negotiators will respond to the priorities raised, reflect on how they may be considered within the COP process, and explore opportunities to strengthen ambition and accountability. By bringing together perspectives from across the Pacific, Australia and the international community, the event will elevate young leaders' voices, strengthen understanding between generations of decision-makers, and demonstrate the ongoing influence of the APYCD in shaping climate discussions and outcomes.
