Highlighting Tuvalu’s Survival Fund as a national mechanism to strengthen community resilience, address loss and damage, and amplify Pacific voices at COP31. The Tuvalu Survival Fund is a pioneering national mechanism designed to strengthen community resilience and address the urgent realities of climate loss and damage. Established to provide direct support to vulnerable households and communities, the Fund ensures that Tuvaluans have access to resources that help them recover from climate-related shocks while building long-term adaptive capacity. At COP31, this side event will showcase how the Fund operates as a practical model for financing resilience in Small Island Developing States. It will highlight Tuvalu’s leadership in creating a nationally owned and community-driven solution that channels resources to those most affected by sea-level rise, water insecurity, and disaster impacts. The session will explore lessons learned from implementation, opportunities for replication across the Pacific, and pathways to scale through partnerships with governments, donors, and civil society. By amplifying Tuvalu’s voice, the event will demonstrate how innovative national mechanisms can complement global climate finance, ensuring that commitments translate into tangible benefits for communities. The Tuvalu Survival Fund embodies Pacific innovation, resilience, and solidarity, offering a blueprint for how small islands can lead in addressing loss and damage while safeguarding their future.
