Vanuatu Climate Finance Coordination Mechanism

Government of Republic of Vanuatu

Watch Live

Vanuatu Climate Finance Coordination: The Role of the NAB Secretariat. The National Advisory Board on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (NAB) Secretariat serves as Vanuatu's supreme coordinating body for climate finance, operating under the Ministry of Climate Change. The NAB and its secretariat ensures that all international and domestic climate funds align with national strategic frameworks, notably the Vanuatu's National Country Program. This climate finance coordination mechanism aims to avoid duplication of climate efforts & actions, enhances institutional capacity, and streamlines multi-sectoral climate programs & investments. Vanuatu's national country program represents Vanuatu's climate change priorities for the next five years (2026-2030) and includes a pipeline of projects that Vanuatu intends to implement. Vanuatu's Climate Finance Roadmap is another strategic coordination plan that aims to better guide the Government in mobilising climate finance to address national priorities. It focuses on increasing access to climate finance, building capacity at all levels of society to adapt to the impacts of climate change, and enhancing coordination between the Government and other stakeholders, including development partners and the private sector.
