PICAN (Pacific Islands Climate Action Network), VCAN (Vanuatu Climate Action Network), SICAN (Solomon Islands Climate Action Network), KiriCAN (Kiribati Climate Action Network), TuCAN (Tuvalu Climate Action Network)

Watch Live

A Pacific talanoa looking at how communities across Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and Tuvalu are navigating climate impacts, loss and damage, and locally led solutions, offering a grounded perspective on what climate justice looks like in practice and what it demands at COP31. The PICAN proposes to convene a talanoa that centres the experiences and leadership of Pacific communities in the global conversation on climate justice. Bringing together representatives from PICAN's national networks in Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and Tuvalu, the discussion will trace the journey from lived climate impacts and El Niño extremes to loss and damage, before highlighting the locally led solutions already strengthening resilience across the region. Through community stories and practical examples, the session aims to highlight how Pacific communities are responding through traditional knowledge, innovation and locally governed climate finance, including PICAN's Climate Justice Fund. The conversation will conclude by connecting these lived experiences and proven approaches to the Pacific Climate Justice Demands for COP31, demonstrating how community leadership can inform more just, and equitable climate action far beyond the Pacific.
